Just when we thought this is how sleeping in hammock is going to be, the folks over at Sierra Madre Research developed the flattest lay hammock ever, called Ninox. Ninox is the flatlay hammock that allows you to sleep however you choose to: on your back, side, on your stomach, or curl up like a baby, and in any direction. The ridgeline was carefully planned out and we believe it is over built for the occasion (as we typically do). The stitching is stout, we have medium weight webbing reinforcement top and bottom on both ends of the hammock end caps that are also sewn into the hammock body and then the ridgeline is connected with 4 load bearing bartacks, then we also added a safety connection on the ridgeline that is bartacked to the hammock body casing (5 layers of fabric). In our research most loading in the ridgeline usually winds up around ~100lbs pending several different variables. The tensionlock we're using can handle 65kg of loading prior to slipping, so it is also capable of handling the loading at the ridgeline. The 20mm ribbon is actually very strong and will have no problem handling the load as we are using it. We went with the flat webbing so that we could give you the ability to easily make a slight adjustment to the ridgeline (everyone knows how to adjust a buckle). In total, this standalone hammock weighs just 15 pounds, comes with its own four-legged support frame that eliminates the need for tethers, and it even has its own integrated shade to keep the bright sun out of your eyes while you take that afternoon snooze. ![]()
